DEBRA International research community

In 2019, DEBRA Ireland, DEBRA UK and DEBRA Austria funded a Consensus Conference, bringing EB experts from various parts of the world together to reclassify disorders with skin fragility, focusing on EB.

The main aims of the DEBRA International research community are:

• To gain a better understanding of epidermolysis bullosa (EB)
• To develop treatments improving the quality of life for those living with EB.

Advances in research have seen the identification of several new genes and subtypes of EB since the report publication of the last international consensus meeting in 2014. EB experts that attended the conference published their findings in the British Journal of Dermatology.

This publication will be of value to clinicians and researchers working with people with EB. It contains the breakdown of the various types of EB with their effected gene and proteins, along with pictures of examples of EB types.
