We understand that living with EB can bring significant emotional and social challenges, and that professional counselling can be hugely helpful for some.
If you would like to access this type of support, we can provide you with funding to engage in counselling or therapy.
As EB not only affects those diagnosed with the condition, we offer our psychological support grant to all members of the family.
You are eligible to receive this grant if:
To ensure we are funding the appropriate care, your chosen therapist, counsellor or play therapist must be fully accredited with the below regulatory bodies in Ireland. These bodies are responsible for maintaining professional standards for therapists. We will require the name, accreditation body and accreditation number of your chosen counsellor/therapist before approving your grant.
Approved accreditation bodies:
We understand that it can be sometimes overwhelming looking for the right counsellor. If you click on the regulatory bodies above, you will be able to find accredited counsellors or therapists in your area. You can also contact your GP for recommendations.
Although we cannot choose your therapist for you, we are happy to have a call with you and advise on how best to go about your search.
You will be entitled to 12 sessions by an accredited counsellor or therapist from the date the application was received for a value of up to €100 per session (€1200 max over 3months). If you feel you would like more sessions, you can apply for another 12. Approval of this will depend on funding available to us at the time.
Yes, we can pay your counsellor or therapist directly however, terms and conditions apply. To avail of this please tick the relevant box on the form and the family support team will be in touch.
